With a little help from fellow Craftster audio_astrophysics I made this wonderful backpack for the Irish swap. Audio was kind enough to share her backpack pattern with me! Thanks!  Wink

Here it is from the front.

Close up of the reverse applique. (My first time at it too!)

Side view to show straps.

Inside view.

I really like how it turned out. My swap partner loved it too!
Thanks for looking!

Any chance of you posting a pattern for the bag? One of my first attempts at machine satin stitching was for a small bag like this and the kid that got it still uses it... much to my horror, it was terrible work!

Yours is much nicer. The lines are very clean and you have great colors.

The pattern isn't mine to share. audio_astrophysics shared her measurements with me and I just went from there. Maybe if she is asked nicely she'll share.

This is totally cute! I've been looking around trying to get ideas to make my self a backpack purse. I tend to stuff my purses full of stuff and it's really weighing on my shoulders. I prefer the back packs (i don't care how old I am) because then the weight is equally distributed. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I really don't want to tear one of my old ones apart to use for a pattern since I want this to be more unique.  I'm looking for a pattern, free or not, I don't care.

Again, I love your bag, reverse applique came out wonderful.  Cheesy

It was really easy! I just pm'd audio_astrophysics and asked her for her measurements for a back pack she had made sometime ago. If you google back pack pattern you also get some really nice ones.

Neat, thanks! Also, did you line the bag and it's bottom with heavy interface or anything at all? And the flap with your reverse applique looks nice and sturdy, Tongue is there anything special in there to make it look so stiff?

I will be googling backpacks today to get started right away. I will definitely be back here to use yours as inspiration. Thank you.

The entire bag is done with a pretty heavy interfacing, including the flap. I wanted it to be pretty sturdy. The handles also have interfacing in them.
