My mom asked me to make her some bunco dice rolling mats... she thought they were about 18" square and somehow have a raised edge, to keep the dice on the mat (or keep them off the floor LOL)

She thought it might be made with a stiff interfacing as well, and she mentioned ultrasuede!

Nothing like a long list of requirements...

I think 18" is too big, think 12" would be plenty big... and think the rolled edges can be accomplished with channels with dowels or straws inserted.

Does anyone here have any suggestions? Or has anyone seen anything like this before? I could really use a visual representation...

here goes nothing.................. Smiley
sew 2 hexagonal pieces of fabric together and leave a hole
turn inside out, ad filling and sew hole shut
fold the edges over a bit and sew near the middle to make channels all around the *thing*
pass a shoelace or something through the channels and pull until the edges are raised enough
tie a knot so the edges stay up
pinch around the bottom until it has and edge all around
sew on the edge.

yes, was thinking that... and was also thinking, in terms of storage, maybe making them slightly different sizes so they could be nested for storage...
