My very first ever piece of clothing that I made without a pattern!  I'm so proud of it!  Excuse the horrible picture of my face, and the "grilled cheese" shirt I've got on under, lol.

I made it out of a really cool twin-size sheet I found at Goodwill.

I'm planning on using the newspaper pattern I made to make another, as soon as I can find another sheet of comparable awesomeness  Grin  I've found a couple things I'd like to tweak for the next go-round that would just be too much work to fix on this one (I should have gathered the bust pieces more where they meet the waist piece, but I would basically have to take the whole thing apart to change it now).  Because of this, I think it might fit a friend of mine better than it fits me, so after I've got a cool new one for myself, I may give her this one so she can stop wishing it was hers  Tongue

Aww, I'm kinda sad my Chi pass-down doesn't really show up in the picture... it's pretty cool lookin'.  It's been passed from each 3rd Floor Cox Hall RA to the next since 2003... (Chi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longwood_University#CHI )  It looks basically black in the pic, but it's actually royal blue.  I loves it  Cheesy   It hasn't escaped my excitement over my sewing machine either -- I hemmed it last week because it was getting really frayed and ratty around the edges... guess that's what happens when you just chop a piece of fabric into a square and turn it into an institutional heirloom, lol.

I can't really, either... it mimics very closely a dress I love that I got for $2.50 on clearance from some store at the mall... Body Central, I think.  I basically measured the different pattern pieces on that dress, then redrew them on newspaper with a ruler and a crayola marker... and a lot of patience.

It is soooo cute.  You look utterly adorable in it. I love the print because it has big dalmations on it instead of the small ones you barely can see which they sale today.
Can't wait to see your other dresses.

Thanks =D  It might be a while before I find more cool sheets... Farmville is a town as small as the name implies, so I have to be patient waiting for gems to pop up in our Goodwill, lol.

My boyfriend and I did find a Power Rangers sheet there the other day, though... he claimed it and would like me to make him something, but he hasn't made up his mind as to what.
