So I get a call around 3 yesterday - "did you get invited to Liza's birthday party?" - I think hard... yes? maybe? I dunno... when is it? Turns out it's next Saturday. So BF wants to know if I want to go in with her on a gift. I said "how old is she? I'll make something." Well, Liza is turning 3 - so I decided to make a princess dress. I started last night - screwed up the bodice entirely (as in cut the back panel as a whole unit and cut the front panel into two pieces - gah!) - learned how to use my gathering foot finally, and came up with this:

Front:

Back:

I also made a TuTu to go underneath:

We were out running errands, going the playground, etc - so I stopped at WalMart to buy the fabric - all told it cost $8. Not too shabby, eh?

Not bad at all! And *much* better than the horrid princess dresses you can buy in the Toy Department at Walmart (or Target or ToysRUs for that matter).

Maybe you could find some little golden rosettes to put along the boo-boo in the front and make it look completely INTENTIONAL! :-)

That's a lucky 3-year-old!
