Thank you so much for sharing this! I've always been interested in the holocaust and this is a beautiful way to honor those who experienced it. I got started on my butterflies as soon as I read this.

I am so doing this.  And, I know my son will want to, too.  Also, I forwarded it to a few people.

I have three younger siblings, and though they aren't as into the arts as I am, I think they could create butterflies as well.  Maybe two or three by each of us!  I also know of a summer camp that I used to work at, and the councelors are ALWAYS trying to think up ideas to keep the kids happy and entertained.  For the older kids, I'm sure this butterfly task would be exciting, and those kids can pop out 3-5 times the project you asked for!  (It's a summer, they have a LOT of time on their hands! XD )  I'm going to look into this and HOPEFULLY they'll be interested Smiley  Fingers crossed!

They are collecting 1,500,000 handmade butterflies! Amazing! I'm going to try to think of a project my kids can do and send the butterflies to them.

Thank you for sharing this. I had been to the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C. years ago on a class trip when I was 13 and remember feeling for all those people, if I remember correctly I left in tears. This is such a beautiful way to represent all of the innocent children. My mom loves butterflies and I think this would be very a great project to work on together.

So I taught a class at my art center. The first class was grades 1-3. Here are the butterflies! Tomorrow I finish up the class with the kids in grades 4-8. I'll post their butterflies then.
