Fiber Friday Feb 6

Oh, so many creative and beautiful yarns this week!  Each and every one of you have lovely contributions, so I'll just mention a few--

kathleenalice - I like Disco!
myklia - I love Goldfrapp's Felt Mountain!  One of my fave albums ever.
jazzturtle - Fantastic muppetty Love child of Cookie Monster and Grover,  and that last photo of Desire is so lovely.  I really admire your tailspinning talent.
pmpknpunk - Cool little supercoils, gotta try that.
UntouchableFace - Yummy yellow yarn!
Jane Doe - Love the combo of bright blue and clean white in Moody Blues.

I've been crazy busy the last couple weeks.  The few minutes now and then I've managed at my wheel, I've been trying to figure out tailspinning.  I've filled one bobbin with natural white mohair locks, haven't had the chance to set the (extremely overspun!) twist yet.  I may yet post a late pic of that.

Ooohh, I lurve me some Fiber Friday.  There are some beautiful colors and textures this week!  There are even a couple of my favorite coppery oranges!

Some lovely stuff as always... I particularily like the handspun sockmonkey, as I have a fondness for monkeys.


I haven't posted for a while because I've been busy as hell, had surgery, and spent more time working on knitting rather than spinning. What I have for the past 2-3 months is this:


Wool mill-ends I dyed. There's more green in this than it shows in the picture, but my camera doesn't want to pick it up right. I think there's somewhere around 150 yards in all:




Batches of my favorite, superwash, all from roving I dyed. The one on the left has lots of little flecks of color in it that aren't really evident in the photo, and the two on the right are the result of little leftover bits of roving I saved up and spun together.




And finally this is Crown Mountain Farms Wish You Were Here roving. I am absolutely NOT a fan of pink in the least, but for some reason, I really liked this roving so I bought some:

myklia - I love Goldfrapp's Felt Mountain!  One of my fave albums ever.

It is such a super trippy album and once it grows on you, it is a little addictive.  I would say for most it would be an acquired taste, but I fell in love with "Utopia" right away.  It came up in shuffle mode on my iPod and I haven't been able to stop listening to it.

Hugely great amounts of amazing yarn, I wouldn't even know where to start.  I will say though that I love your self striping yarn Jane Doe.

Got a picture of the 3 ply from the yarn I spun last week, from hand painted corriedale roving from Lapoli



Worked up to 8-11 wpi in a 3 ply.  156 yards +

It has already been washed and I just love the way spun corriedale blooms!!

This is my very first contribution to fiber fridays!
I just started spinning on wednesday after learning. So, heres what I created this week! Three skeins of 100% local brown wool.
I only have a photo of it hanging to dry, its almost dry and ready to turn into a ball.

I didn't do a lot of spinning this week.  But, here is what I did do:


3.7 oz and 148 yards of mill ends that I dyed up last week.  I plied this with some red thread. I think the red thread may be nylon, but I'm not sure.  I actually have a smaller 80 yard skein of this too.  But, it looks the same, so I won't post a pic.


"Ocean Park"  This one is destined to be a scarf for me to wear to my parents house at the beach.  It's a single with lots of sparkle and locks.  I LOVE this yarn.  I haven't set the twist yet.  It's about 4.5 oz and has 138 yards.
