I absolutely love the horseshoe star.  A brilliant idea and beautifully made.  TracyInNH, did you solder it first and then attach the leather?
As a misplaced Texan, it reminded me of home.  I have to make one of those.  I also have a Texas friend overseas now.  I wonder how much it would cost to send 5 horseshoes to Germany?   Or I could just send her the picture. That sounds better.  Cheesy

I tried mulitple glues and epoxy's and nothing held.  My hubby does some soldering and stuff but didn't have time to teach me.  I just used the leather straps and kind of sewed them together.  They aren't that heavy, maybe two pounds.  I bought the smallest ones they had.

I have thought about this, and I don't think solder would hold it, you would probably really have to tack weld it. Which is easy (freshmen Ag easy) but you would need the stuff.  The leather is cool it adds another western flavor. I love it. It makes my walls happy.

I love the purple skull microsuede.  Fabrics are so much cooler now than when I was a kid.

Wow, seeing all these other awesome "star" crafts is really cool, I love all the different directions people go. In comparison I feel like I cheated a bit with the star I did. Tongue

I received from Homerof2 today.  What an awesome package!
The whole package.

My shape was crescent moon.  She made me a perler suncatcher.

My color was red.  She made me coasters.

My texture was soft.  She made me a birdie.  This little guy is going to reside on my desk, right next to my computer.

Action shot of the suncatcher.

I love everything.  Thanks, Cindy.

That birdie is too cute!  I like the coasters too... fabric ones are cool  - you can toss them in the wash if you need to!

Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.

I'm pretty blown away by the horseshoe star still!  Maybe I need to stop approaching small swaps on a time basis...

hey guys, buckeyebeadgirl asked me to post pics of the goodies i sent her because she can't find the cord for her camera.  sooo here they are:

first is the texture - smooth.  i made a leaf necklace.  i found this pendant and thought it was perfect, she said she likes nature-y things.  it was so hard to photograph, the leaf is frosted and has flecks of peachy gold in it... and so i used peach and gold beads along the chain with it as well.

close up on the leaf:

and a better view of the beads

next up is the shape - round.  i made a decoupaged wooden trinket box.  i added the mirror inside, and modpodged scrap paper to create the background and horse design.  my partner is an equine vet.

here is the top of it:

the side:

and the inside:

and last is her color - red.  so i made a knitted clutch.  now i have to say that this was my very first time knitting with cables, and really the first time i've knit anything other than a square (although it really is just a big rectangle!)  i added painted wooden dowels and a big bow.

the front:

and the lined inside:

i hope she enjoys them all as much as i enjoyed making them!
