It never occured to me that this would be something that other people don't do. As I see it, most Asian meals should be eaten from a bowl - it's better at holding the 'wetter' dishes (curries, laksas, soups), and more conducive to the use of chopsticks. And I find them easier to use when mixing my 2-minute noodles and the sauces together.

Those tiny little cereal bowls don't hold enough to be a 'meal', so noodle bowls are just bigger and deeper. Like this:


I have these - but black, and I have slightly smaller ones for the nights when I'm not hungry enough to eat a horse. Two different diameters for my sewing needs!!
