AAARRGGHH! Avast ye matie!

so i got these shadow boxes the last time i was at ikea pretty much because they were cheap and i knew i could figure out something to do with them.  well, it took 4 months of scheeming (and another month of stitching) but this is what i came up with:

the shadow box is 5x7 and i varnished it with 10 red and brown tinted high gloss varnish so it's very old timey and shiney.  all the embroidery pieces are mounted on acid free mat board.

it's for my pirate loving friend for his forthcoming birthday.  i think it may be the first year i've finished his gift on time!
