Hey all you lovely crafters! I have been roamin the internet lately and have come upon these lovely beings

http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.55715059.jpg

skinny felted bangles! and despite all my searching I cant find a tutorial anywhere! so my question is this...does anyone know how to make these felted bangles? I wanna learn so bad. the person who made these said they used a wet felting process so im thinkin the best way to learn is that one at the moment. ive searched our boards but none really pertain to teaching how to felt bangles. just beads etc as far as jewelry goes.

so if anyone has a link to a tutorial or can tell me how to find out how to make them it would be mucho appreciated! thanks!!

I would guess from their rigidity, that the fiber has been wrapped around a stiff core
(a metal or plastic bangle) and then felted tightly.

I've not tried it, I'm just having a good ol' guess by looking at the picture.
You could ask the etsy seller if they would create & sell you a kit so you could make it yourself.
I've known a number of etsy users to do that.

im a felter by trial and error. so i wouldn't just take my word on it but...

i would felt strings into the thikness and length i want.
then attache the ends. you could even flet around some wire or base to make them really sturrdy without to much work.

Wet felting is wool fibres interfering to eachother, with the help of soap, water and your energy= felt

Fill a bowl with water and soap (I use olive soap, but any soap will do), make some bubbles in it so the foam comes on top of the water.
Just take a piece of wool roving, wrap it around your fist, and then very gently put the foam on the wool. Next you'll have to very gently start rolling the wool and water soap in between your hands. Keep doing this till the wool becomes stiff. Sometimes helps to add some soap/ water. Good luck!!

if your willing to spend somemoney a book called felt helped me alot!!

here is the link

http://www.amazon.ca/Felt-India-Flint/dp/1740458826/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239576892&sr=1-1
there is a proces and it teaches you abot the fibers and some projects are listed aswell. i highly reconmend it. also do alot of reading on the internet.

as a begginer felter myself i would try to attempt this as a first time project. it is a hard thing to learn (in my experiance) and a pricey one too! Wink

But make sure you buy wool that can be wet felted!! There are a lot different kinds of wool and they are not always suiteble for wetfelting. Merino roving works fine

http://www.livingfelt.com/?ref=ffbanner Is a good site to order wool, follow classes, etc.

There is a series of youtube videos on making felt bracelets:

This isn't the first one, but with a bit of poking around I'm sure you can find them in order.
