I am hat crazy right now!

This is a re-working of a vintage knitting pattern from a "Hats & Accesories by Beehive" pattern book I got off Ebay. the pattern book is undated so I'm not sure how dated it is but it's definately pre-60's  The original pattern was called "Peppermint Topping" and had this nasty stockinette stich piping on it.

I reworked the pattern to get rid of the piping added on i-cord ties, some back-stitched vines and leaves reworked from on old flower pattern. I knit the leaves seperately and sewed them on.  The bottom of the i-cords have 2 of the leaves sewn together so that they're the same on either side.

I'm so happy with this!

That is so super cute.  I love the leaves, and the construction looks like a lot of fun!

I love it!! This is seriously cute! I have such problems working from vintage patterns with my gauge. Great job!

I knit 4 gauge swatches before I started this....which I hate doing but with vintage patterns you pretty much have to....sigh

this is gorgeous. i crocheted a hat shaped like this, with short rows and such and i really wanted to do an embroidered design on it. instead i ended up just sewing on buttons. which was still sweet, but i really like the look of the leaves... great job!
