Finally finished this custom request from my daughters' friend.  The backpack is from the anime, Fruits Basket.  I'd explain more, but it would be easier if you just watched the anime. Smiley

This was one of the hardest requests I have ever had.  I started over about 3 times. I added a zipper to the back which was really tricky-- I still want to find a way to make it lie flat, not curve in. I'm not sure I will ever attempt to add a zipper into any of my other crochet projects! The bottom is stuffed so that it would keep its shape.  The straps are made with a spool knitter.

*****here's a new anime-themed backpack I got a request for: Maromi from Paranoia Agent:

I got the huge wiggly eyes at Michaels, cut two slits in the back and sewed them on and used puffy paint for the rest of the details.

Thanks for looking!

I love it!  It looks just like the one in the show.  Great job.

(And if you ever decide to transcribe your pattern, that would be pretty awesome.)

this makes me want to do more crochet!  Thanks for your inspiration!!

One question, did you cut the crochet to add the zipper or did you end it at each row?
I am totally a novice (at very best!) at this craft!  But I am in love thanks to you

This is just too cute! What a great idea for a teen or even preteen girl. I'd even try the zipper thing if you did a pattern

I ended it at each row. It was really tricky to get the right shape--I would attempt a lot of other amigurumi before trying it.  I was doubting myself the entire time. I was so worried it wasn't going to turn out the way I wanted it to!

I didn't know who it was because I'm not cool enough to watch anime BUT I did think "AW HOW CUTE!" lol.
And I had to some see. Of course it turns out to be your work which makes it adorable automatically.
Great job!
