the second was a gothic flower hat

I don't know how the second one will be received.  The colors are really odd

OK! here we go!
first Ch6
http://piebirdjosie.squarespace.com/picture/1.jpg?pictureId=131837
slst into 6th ch from hook to form a ring
ch 1
sc into loop 14 times and slst to connect. Now that ring is SOLID!
http://piebirdjosie.squarespace.com/picture/2.jpg?pictureId=131838

ch 6 and slst into into second loop from hk (this is on the chain NOT on the ring)
sc
hdc
dc
htc
down the chain
NOW slst 3 spaces over on ring
http://piebirdjosie.squarespace.com/picture/3.jpg?pictureId=131839
note: if you do longer or shorter spikes take into account how many spaces you have to work with on your ring - you will need to sc more/less then 14.  So PLAN AHEAD

when you are all done spiking you can either weave the ends in or leave them.  I like to leave them so I can tie them together with the outer flower to put on a pin or so that I can weave them into a base.

Now pause to check it out! Its a wacky star! Imagine that.

Now for the outer flower-- very very simple!
(this is another way to form a solid ring)
ch 3
6sc in 2nd loop from hook
slst to connect
http://piebirdjosie.squarespace.com/picture/7.jpg?pictureId=131843

Now
*ch 8 and sc into next loop on ring*around until you get to the end.  The flower should look cool and choatic

Tie off.  Pull ends threw the ring in the star.

Now pick a button or bead to attach to the center.  I choose a "Baristador" button  (a zine I am doing with a fellow barista)

then, of course, its choose your own adventure.  I decided to make a pin

If you like, you can make leaves for the flower.  Do you need a leaf tutorial?

Thanks for the tute! I have a crocheted star my grandmother made pinned to one of my hoodies, and I looooooove it, but couldn't for the life of me figured out how she did it. Now I know! Awesome.

Love the hats, too! So cute!
