When my partner asked for elephant stuffies I knew that I had to try.  I went on a net wide search for the perfect pattern and I settled on Rumpled Quilt Skins  http://www.rumpledquiltskins.com/wwwrumpledquiltskinscom/2008/6/23/elephant-pattern.html

This post inspired me  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=205598.0

So without further ado here they are:

The three cloth ones have names.  The purple one I finished first and did with mostly machine stitching.  My son named him Enoch!
The blue and black one is for my other son and he was named Chance.  I did all the quilting this time by hand.   (The quilting helps give the Elephant a wrinkled appearance!)  The pink patterned one is for my swap partner and I named her Ruby.  I did the quilting and most of the seams by hand since she was smaller.  Each elephant took at least 10 hours from start to finish.  The last little guy was sculpted in polymer clay and then painted.  He was also for a swap, but he got broken  in transit Cry.   Thanks for looking!   Comments are most appreciated!

oh and I found the pattern for sale on Etsy.  I can't wait to get the tiger pattern that I ordered and start making some tigers!

I love the hand stitching, it gives them the most fantastic detail. Your swap partner is super lucky! Smiley

I asked the same thing!  I eventually found a pattern on etsy by searching for rumpled quilt skins and elephant.  Some people have found the patterns at a quilt store.   Here is a link to one for sale although I don't know anything about the store.   Shop at your own risk! lol

I was very lucky, indeed.  And very happy to give Ruby a good home.  She has currently disappeared, as she was a gift to my partner, but I'm sure she's in a safe place (probably went to work with my partner). Cheesy

Love your elephants! I'm working on the Rumpled Quilt Skins snake now. Hope to get it done in the next week or so. Be sure and post your Tiger when you get it done!
