This was the best snack ever!


*Preheat Oven to 375F


Walnuts (3 cups)
Brown Sugar (1/4 cup)
Salt (2 tsp)
Cayenne Pepper (1 tsp)
Paprika (1 tsp)
Ground Ginger (3/4 tsp)
Pure Maple Syrup (1/4 cup)
Water (1 tsp)
Vegetable Oil (2 tsp)
Grated Orange Zest (1/2 tsp)

1) Spread walnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.

2) Mix the sugar, salt, pepper, paprika and ginger in a bowl.

3) In a saucepan, combine syrup, water, oil and orange zest. Boil to a medium heat.

4) Add the walnuts, stir for 4 minutes,

5) Right away, pour into the bowl with the spices. Toss, toss, toss. Then, back on to the baking sheet to fully cool off.

* Can also be made with pecans, but walnuts were less expensive.

I used pecans (my fave!) to test this recipe. Don't know many kids who would like this much 'peppers' heat on a snack but it's very yummy with a sweet hint. Thanks much for the recommend. Next time I'll cut the Cayenne and Paprika for my own preferences but this is sooo a keeper!
