OK so my resolutions were to get healthy and quit smoking as my fiance and i are trying for a baby. Quitting smoking was a major problem for me - as I didn't want to use any NRT etc - I went 'cold turkey'. To help keep my hands and mind occupied through those cravings I decided to teach myself how to knit. Which would also help me when pregnant if I can save money by knitting clothes / booties for the baby.

I used this website http://www.learn2knit.co.uk/ and after playing for a few days decided to make a basic teddy bear. I found the pattern here: http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/toys/anyyarnteddybear.htm and loosely followed it.

This is what I came up with:

(it's not sloped - it was just the best picture I could get - but taken at a funny angle!)

Sorry - I don't have any 'in progress' shots.

Oh - and it has helped - I've now been smokefree for over two weeks  Grin Grin Grin

I'm beginning to think that someone should write a book about "Crafting away your troubles."  It's so helpful to occupy your time with something that makes you feel better about yourself and is actually quite useful. Congrats on 2 weeks smoke free!

Knitting is how I quit smoking!  In the bottom of my closet is an 8 foot long, foot and a half wide garter stitch scarf lol!

Now if I could only convince MY fiance to impregnate ME!  Grin

Congrats... not only only the smoking (or lack of ) but also on teaching yourself to knit.  I can't seem to learn and I admire anyone who can teach themselves and then produce an adorable teddy bear like that.

By the way, I quit cold turkey many years ago.  If you can quit that way, it sticks!
