Okay, so having returned from the virtual dead, and I have returned to craftster to beg forgiveness for my abrupt departure.  I became very ill at the same time I was trying to go back to full-time work, my engagement was almost derailed, then my job fell apart, etc.  It's been an exceptionally hectic and rollercoaster-ish 2 years, but now Im alright, things are back to relative calm  Tongue and I have returned, hat in hand.

But I couldnt really return without a craft because, after all, what better way to seek a crafter's forgiveness than with an offering of craftiness?

So I present...pac-man shoes.  In my traditional fashion, painted shoes, only nerd-style

the shoes were almost all white with some navy, and now we have these...

close ups (im not sure why the pacman shoe looks a little matte in some places and shiny in others, but its a litle shiny all over in real life...)

close up... (forgive the wet-looking spot, theyre still drying from the spray)

and YES, theyre fully functional!!

comments, criticism, anything's helpful...ive been out of the craft game since my wedding in october 07!...

They're really simple and easy to do (otherwise I could never do them!), they just take time!

You take your shoes, you take your brushes, and you grab some acrylics and get to work!  let each coat fully dry.  you can mix your acrylics with textile medium, but for shoes, I dont really find it necessary.  I recommend painting the whole shoe, even if the initial color is the background color you want (when the whole shoe is painted, dirt is just less likely to stick to it).  You can draw out what you want with a pencil once you have the background done, or just freehand.  My Hufflepuff shoes and Carebears shoes (you can see my profile for the pics, or search craftster) were done with a pencil first, but these were freehanded, other than the blue lines.

Spray the finished product with some acrylic spray or, ideally, some scotchguard.  They should hold up okay - mine always have!

Thanks so much for your comments and question...more are always welcome - I have a tendency to kind of feel like I'm not a real crafter since everything I do is so simple and easy!!  Cheesy

I'm new here so you don't have to beg my forgiveness.  I will say that you've earned my eternal respect and envy with your nerd-tasticly awesome shoes.
