I saw the cupcake hat listed last week and remembered how badly I wanted to make one for my niece. I had the idea knocking around in my head for months how I wanted to do it, what yarn I wanted to use... Seeing the other one motivated me to get it done.

I'm not thrilled with the pictures. I'll get some better ones when I can get some better lighting.

Not really. I was loosely basing it off of a knit hat I saw online. I had planned on just making the top a regular sc style, until I made a hat for my daughter a few weeks ago that was made with hdc in back loop only, and spiral. I decided that would be perfect for the top, makes it look like the frosting is swirled. And the bottom was easy too, just sc back loop. When I got the two pieces together though, I realized the border around the frosting, like on her hat, was neccesary.

Funny thing about the sprinkles. They came from a skein of Lion Brand Fancy fur I have. The fur that was wrapped around the little pom-pom type things there was brown, the yarn was hideous. So I pulled the whole skein apart. They worked perfect.

Go ahead and try making it though, once you get started you'll realize it's easy. It came together in half a day, the hardest part was the sprinkles.

Seeing all these cupcake hats makes me want to make some!  I like the swirls on yours, and the sprinkles!  I'd like to make one for my daughter, and for me, so we match.  Yeah, it's lame, poor kid, but she's only two and she'll never remember! LOL!

Love this! I might eventually try to make one for myself, but as I don't crochet past basic rectangles, I'd be sewing.  Cheesy
