I haven't posted a project in a long time.  I put a lot of work into this, though, and am dying to share it!  I made this bag for the Singer Sewing With Nature Contest.  If you haven't heard about the contest you can read about it here http://craftzine.com/sewingwithnature/.  I can't believe I finished it in time.  I'm a bad procrastinator!

Anyway, the outside of the bag is made completely from old, unwanted clothes, and the lining is from some old curtains.  The tree trunks are made from some old linen pants.  It was so light I decided they should be birch trees, so I stitched little lines across the trunks to make them look more realistic.

I also layered the leafy sections to give them more depth.

I'm hoping to win a dress form.  I've never won anything before, so I'm really excited/nervous.  Wish me luck! Smiley

awesome bag! I joined the flickr group for that competition, but didn't have a chance to craft for it, with all of my swaps.

What an amazing attention to detail and use of fabric patterning for artistic effect.   Shocked  That bag is gorgeous, and so unique.
