Film Canister Diorama: Little Red Riding hood

Whilst putting off school work one day, I decided that I needed to find something interesting to do with all the empty film canisters I have lying around. Ta Da! insta-art! The trees are paper, all the other layers are gel samples for theatre lighting. Gluing everything in straight was tricky, but over all I'm happy with it.

That is such a beautiful little piece of art!  Too bad about so many people taking digital pictures now, though, because I remember when you could go into any drugstore and ask for bags and bags of those little film canisters.  Do you have any of the cloudy white ones?  There's just so much potential with this idea!

I think this is the best use of a film canister.  I love it. 

How did you get the gels to stand up inside?  Or is it glued to the edge?
