Childrens Ongoing Wish Swap Round 7 (COWS 7)
«
on:

An ongoing swap geared towards kids!
This is for child crafting/supplies - please do not list things other than for kids or to be used for child crafts
For people thinking of joining - you can join this swap at any time during the month. When you see something that someone wants you can stake a crafty claim (on the last list or current list posted not one buried up by other posts) you can pick what you want to make and when. It will give you some crafty freedom.
The more the merrier with an Ongoing Swap so if you have kids or want things made for kids you know this will be a great swap for you!
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: mimiw
co-organizer:
Sign-up date range: (02/01/09-02/28/09)
Date to send item by: 14 days after claiming
Limited to a certain number of people? (optional):NO
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO
If so, which country?
Age requirement? 13
Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES
Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 13 years old: YES
*IMPORTANT PM INFO*: When sending PMs, please label them as COWS 6 with one of the following tags:
Approval
Package sent
Package received
Question
This will help me stay organized. Also, please include the send by date with any package sent or received.
How This Swap Works:
Please READ CAREFULLY! This swap works differently than most!
Try to imagine a chain. The first link is the first person whose wish list is on page 1 (Person A) - that will be the craftster member who was the very last wish list from Children’s Ongoing Wish Swap 6.
Now, we want to put another link in the chain. People will read that list and see if there is something they want to/can make from the list.
Someone (Person B) will claim Person A for some item on their wish list. They post a reply to the thread that says “I claim Person A for [item]. This is my X claim (however many times they have picked someone – for example, "this is my fourth wish, with one sent, and three received,” (meaning that this is the fourth claim they've made, one is in transit to its destination, and three of the items have been received by the people they previously claimed). Also add your location, and any preferences or aversions – “I live in Wisconsin USA, I am a vegetarian, and I am allergic to wool”.
IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REPLY WITH YOUR STATUS WHEN YOU CLAIM SOMEONE! This means you need to post who you are claiming and for what, how many claims you have made, including how many in transit and how many received, and your location/preferences/aversions.
Then comes the fun part! After the introduction, Person B is the last link in the chain, and they post their wish list!!! YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY ITEMS ON YOUR WISH LIST AS YOU WANT; HOWEVER, YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF SIX ITEMS FOR A CHILD. You can join wanting to receive for a child other than your own. THE MORE ITEMS YOU LIST, THE BETTER YOUR CHANCES OF BEING CLAIMED QUICKLY. Also site examples/links to tutorials/finished items, which helps A LOT.
(Please have your list ready, this swap can move very quickly! Please include your country at the start of your wish list). Person B will also PM Person A to get her address so they can mail the item when it is finished.
Along comes Person C, who claims Person B for something on their list and the chain is built, link by link. (If Person C wanted to make Person B a purse AND a stuffie, that would still count as ONE WISH.) Then they post their list, and so on.
When you want to make a claim, you can ONLY pick from the very last wish list in the chain. You can't pick anyone else in the chain - you can only connect to the very end of the chain, which is that last wish list posted.
After you have made your claim, you need to PM that person for their address.
Friends of Craftster are allowed 3 wishes at one time, others are allowed 2 wishes. If this is your first swap, you are only allowed one wish until your craft is received for this month. Do not choose over your given limit.
If you already have one claim that will be sent out late, please don't claim again until that one is sent out.
Become a Friend of Craftster! Go here:
http://www.craftster.org/subscribe.php
If you are at your limit of wishes, you can choose again once one of your partners receives, NOT when you send.
***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high caliber***
Let's keep the quality high here. I don't want to receive PMs with people concerned over the lack of quality of their items. Please, just work your hardest to keep the bar high on the quality of items here! Don't choose just for the sake of choosing; choose to make someone else a really AWESOME wish!
Now if the thread gets in a rut for a day, the person who made the last wish should add to their list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them. Please make sure this is not you!
Unsure of where to find wish ideas?
Sending/Communicating/Feedback:
YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO GET YOUR ITEM OUT THE DOOR.
IF YOU DO NOT SEND A MEDIUM ITEM YOU WILL BE GETTING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.
( the medium can be a couple small items etc as long as it adds up to a medium )
( A medium item equals two hours of crafting time or $20 worth of store bought items )
Please be communicative if you are having any issues. If you communicate you still need to send your item in a timely manner. Communication does not mean you can send as late as you want. After one week past the deadline you will have negative feedback. This is only temporary as it will be changed back once you fulfill your obligation for late item(s). Do not choose to craft an item if you do not think you can meet these deadlines.
THERE WILL BE FEEDBACK FOR THIS SWAP
I will be giving feedback in the following way:
- great swapper: for those who follow all the rules
- good/poor communication: where applicable
- sent late/early: where applicable
- no dc number: failed to comply with the rule about using a delivery confirmation number for packages within your own country
- did not follow item amount rule
Previous Swap Rounds:
If you are confused in any way by how this works, please look at some previous COWS rounds to see how an OWS works
Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZERS VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
If you want to participate, information to send to organizer: mimiw
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap: COWS 7
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name and address including the country
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
Confirm that are at least 13 years old (yes/no)

We'll start with Ruby Copperhead - the last list from COWS 6:
Hi! I live in Germany with two lovely little nerdy chaos generators (soo unlike me Smiley ).
The Big M: 8 years old, loves computers, trains, maths, sports and reading, volcanoes, food charts (although I don't want any goodies of that), Star Wars toys (all stolen from me) and LEGO and Playmobil. Favourite TV shows are Lazy Town and Vicky the Viking, Pettersson & Findus, Shaun the Sheep, Kim Possible and Nils Holgersson. Favourite Films include Monster Inc., everything Winnie the Pooh, Shrek, and Ice Age. Favourite comic books are Calvin & Hobbes, and Power Rangers (sigh).
Favourite color is blue.
Wears size 128 or bigger.
The Middle M (there is no smaller one, but we are not allowed to call him small Smiley): 5 years old, loves trains, train schedules, Benjamin Bluemchen, cats, and music, music, music. Favourite toys are LEGO and Playmobil, blankets, pillows and stuffies, his wooden train and everything related to transport. Favourite TV shows and movies are same as his brother's. Loves to count, prefers to wear clothes with big numbers on. Slight preference for red, orange and green.
Wears size 110.
Their bedroom is jungle-themed, in primary colors, mostly green. There's a train's sub-theme (actually, we have that in every room Smiley)
Please consider that anything my kids get to handle must be robust.
No camouflage or war themed stuff please.
Please don't hesitate to discuss any matters of reducing shipment costs with me. If there is something I can do, like e.g. stuffing an item so you can send it flat, please let me know!
They would be happy about anything themed to their favourites, or to the Gorillaz, or anything themed or related to Astrid Lindgren novels, Vikings (these are cool:
http://www.herzensart.com/portfolio/en/start.html
), trains, cats, soccer, or chess.
Big M really needs PJ bottoms in 134.
Middle M loves to play ice cream seller (mostly selling my scrap yarn balls Smiley), so wool or fabric ice cones with interchangeable ice cream would be great.
Craft supplies:
- Glow in the dark yarn (we're still not fed up with anything glow in the dark Smiley)
- fabric markers
- fabric with cool prints

I claim Ruby Copperhead for a pair of Vikings (like the ones in the link).
This is my 1st claim, 0 sent, 0 received.
I will add more soon, I have to do some more thinking!
I am a SAHM (atm, however I am currently looking for a job, bleh) of 1 darling little boy who is almost 3.5 years old. We live in North Carolina (USA) and have 2 cats.
Quentin - almost 3.5 year old boy
Currently wears size 3T/4T in shirts and for pants 3T+ length with 2T waist would be best, size 7.5 in toddler shoes. If you need actual measurements let me know, I have them.
Loves Thomas/trains, cars (ie-HotWheels), SuperWhy, Clifford, Lazytown, Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora/Diego, Blue's Clues, Mario Bros/MarioKart, RockBand, pirates, dinosaurs, space/rockets (and lots of other things, just ask, he probably likes it) OMG, I can't believe I almost forgot Spiderman!
Also enjoys cheese (in many wonderous forms, from quesadilas to cubes), cookies, ice cream, chocolate milk and fruit snacks and M&M's (kid LOVES some m&ms). (I promise he doesn't just eat these things, they are just on the top of the list of things he wants when I ask him what he wants for whatever meal)
Also likes trying to ride his new tricycle, running in circles around the house, gymnastics class & soccer class.
Likes watching KC Chiefs football with his daddy and grandpa every Sunday (they all have matching jerseys, it's really quite adorable). Also UNC Tarheel basketball is big in this house. (He also has a KU-Jayhawks grandpa and an UGA-Bulldogs grandpa pulling him in their directions, haha).
He doesn't really have a favorite color (at least not one that he will tell me, he just starts naming all the colors he knows), sticking to boy appropriate colors would be best (so no pinks or purples).
---------------------------------------------------------
Play Food/Play Kitchen items - pots&pans/utensils/etc... and food items, I have a whole booklet that I printed out of crocheted foods but I haven't had a chance to get them started. Crocheted/felt/etc... please no faces on the items, there's nothing weirder than pretending to cook and eat foods that have cute/funny faces. I have gotten a little bit of food in past swapping, here's a picture of it all...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r283/amystagner/Jan2009350.jpg
)
Awesome shirts or hoodie - please no iron ons (they do not last in my wash and my kiddo picks at anything that he thinks is a sticker) - in any of his favorite things or check out the examples on his wist (link below, and yes I made my kid his own wist, haha)
Lounge pants/shorts & PJs in fabrics in his favorite things.
Art for bedroom/bathroom (painting/embroidery/fabric/etc) - Bedroom is transportation themed, bathroom is monkeys/jungle. (Here is a link to my flickr set with pictures of both rooms-the only thing that is different now other than furniture being moved around is the Thomas curtain on the window, it's posted on here somewhere... also his bathroom has now been painted blue (it's the same color as the elephant on the shower curtain)-
http://www.flickr.com/photos/amystagner/sets/72157603919027797/
)
Transportation themed (or Thomas themed) Bedding... blanket/quilt/sheets/pillowcases (please no fleece blankets, he has like 5 of them now)... twin sized.
This is a biggie, but this thing is just too cool, so I thought why not, I can't seem to figure out how to make it...
http://www.shopatron.com/product/product_id=BOO801/514.0
Knit socks! I just love knit socks but I can't knit myself and crocheted socks aren't as nice looking (at least not any patterns that I have seen, if you know of any please send me links).
Slippers (non-slip) or thick snuggly sock booties... our feet get cold in this house.
Sewing/crocheting patterns for infants/toddlers/boys/girls (we plan on having at least one more, it might be a little while, but I have been collecting patterns so I will be ready when we do)
Mario (as in the Nintendo Mario bros) amigurumi - snugglably sized.
Fabric in any of his favorite themes or other boyish prints (no baseball prints though please...) (cotton-I am sorely lacking cotton prints atm, fleece, flannel, any kind!)
Any of these crochet patterns -

,
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18166245
(or other cute patterns that are similar)
Extras/Store bought - We love candy/snacks (especially ones from other countries!), puzzles (used is fine, as long as all the pieces are there), books (again, used is fine as long as there aren't any pages torn out or anything like that), viewmaster reels, unwanted gameboy games, age appropriate craft supplies, stickers.

I claim Zelda.Suicide for Thomas pillowcases + play kitchen items (and now I can send that Thomas bed thing I was going to send you a while back)
This is my first claim, 0 sent, 0 received
My name is Norah and I live in
chilly
freezing
Wisconsin. I have two munchkins, Jules (Julian) is 1 and little man (Jackson) is 3. Jules loves everything musical; dancing, instruments (so he can play them and dance to them). Jackson loves everything. No seriously, he does.
hmmm,
Ideas:
anything involving Kai Lan (or any character from the show Ni Hao Kai Lan)
and now Powerpuff Girls. if you can somehow make him something "boyish" involving the powerpuff girls that would be amazing.
and Transformers...espe
cially Bumblebee
ooh...anything having to do with Power Rangers. how could i forget that?
Hoodies are always fun...in size 12mo or 4T
Any kind of travel toys.
A mario mushroom hat like the one here
Fun towels for them (just bath towels, doctored up any way that you would like) - these kids would live in the bath if i let them. (And yes, we swim in the summer and at the Y on weekends, but it's winter here in WI and sooo cold!)
Shirts/clothes with a Chinese feel (my husband is Taiwanese, so we like things that help them recognize and explore that part of their heritage too!)
any clothes in size 12mo or 4T (it's so much fun to have homemade and Jackson loves when something is "cut" (sewn) just for him)
I love
this
set
a cool boy poppet (it's up to you to decide what qualifies as "cool" as i'm not good with that and 3 year olds aren't really, either Wink)
Pj bottoms in 4T
a shirt with "little man" on it (his nickname, and it would be cute!)
julian's nickname is plankton...like plankton from spongebob? because he was so little when he was born (well, 7lbs4oz, but jackson was almost 10lbs so it seemed little) so maybe a shirt with plankton on it?
anything related to alvin and the chipmunks (the new movie, not the cartoon - that kid is obsessed)
A petticoat for my 4 year old niece (she wears a size 5) like
these
or
these
. Any colors, although I have this thing for pink and red together. Then again, I won't be wearing it...and I think that just stems from having all boys. Wink
(I've made her a couple tutus and she loves them, but these are something different altogether and just gorgeous!)
**Anything for my twin nieces, they are three months old**
Play food for the munchkins
Okay, I'll try to update this sometime. There are a million cute things out there but when it comes down to it I'm not very good at this!
Thanks!

I claim norahkate for a couple shirts and a decorated hoodie or 2
This is my first claim with 0 sent and 0 received.
My name is Mimi and I am in Maryland. My son, Skyler, is 5 weeks old. He is a big boy so nothing sized for newborns please! I have a wonderful, sports-loving husband and a large, super furry dog. We try and live as environmentally friendly as possible and love anything to do with the outdoors, nature and backpacking.
*Wool longies to fit over cloth diapers!
*Little person clothes – stenciled, sewn, reconned, whatever is fine by me! He is already in 3 month stuff!
*Boyish stuffies. Maybe something like
this
or
this
*
This
hat…or
this
one…or even
this
one
*Wooden letter blocks like
these
*A socktopus like
this
one
*Anything using
these
super fun monsters! On a onesie, blanket, etc…
*A birth plate similar to
this
one (doesn’t need to be a monkey theme – actually would just prefer a nature theme)
*Wall clock with a nature theme (trees, leaves, etc…) that ticks
*A felt name book that spells out Skyler
*Anything baby related from my
wists

I claim mimiw for one or more of those hats.
This is my first claim with 0 sent and 0 received.
My name is Vanda and I am in Indiana. I am 2 months pregnant with my first baby, so I have nooooothing! We're decorating our nursery in Winnie the Pooh / Classic Pooh, and we love monkeys. We're also very geeky, we play lots of video games, roleplaying games, watch all the Sci Fi TV shows, etc, so any baby geek stuff would be awesome. As much as I hate to admit this, my husband likes NASCAR (Kasey Kahne #9), so that's another good theme. I knit and crochet, but I'm not a big sewer or embellisher so anything handsewn or hand embellished (stencil, embroidery, etc) would be awesome.
*Anything cloth diapering related. Diapers. Soakers. Longies. Wetbags. Cloth Wipes. Recipes for wipe solution. Tips & Tricks. Lists of favorite suppliers. Anything at all!
*Stenciled or embroidered baby clothes. Onesies are ok, but tshirts are even better!
*Wool yarn for making soakers. I have some made, but I'd like to make more bigger sizes now, while I have the time! I'm trying not to confuse my husband with too many handwash items, so superwash is best. But some supersoft non superwash wool (Malabrigo?) would be great too for sleep sacks or other next to skin items!
*Anything. Seriously. You all obviously have children already, and this is my first. The shower is a loooong way off so I really have a pitifully small stash of baby necessities at this point. Anything you can think of that you couldn't live with out for your newborn would be terrific.
Thanks!

I claim mimiw for a boyish stuffie.
This is my 2nd claim, 0 sent, 0 received.
Anything with a
*
in front of it is new to the list.
I am a SAHM (atm, however I am currently looking for a job, bleh) of 1 darling little boy who is almost 3.5 years old. We live in North Carolina (USA) and have 2 cats.
Quentin - almost 3.5 year old boy
Currently wears size 3T/4T in shirts and for pants 3T+ length with 2T waist would be best, size 7.5+ in toddler shoes. If you need actual measurements let me know, I have them.
Loves Thomas/trains, cars (ie-HotWheels), SuperWhy, Clifford, Lazytown, Yo Gabba Gabba, WonderPets, Ni Hao, Kai-lan, Spongebob, Dora/Diego, Blue's Clues, Mario Bros/MarioKart, Sonic, RockBand, pirates, dinosaurs, space/rockets (and lots of other things, just ask, he probably likes it) OMG, I can't believe I almost forgot Spiderman! (Really Q hasn't seen a TV show he doesn't like...)
---------------------------------------------------------
Play Food/Play Kitchen items - pots&pans/utensils/etc (we have an apron/hotpads already)... and food items, I have a whole booklet that I printed out of crocheted foods but I haven't had a chance to get them started. Crocheted/knit/felt/etc... please no faces on the items, there's nothing weirder than pretending to cook and eat foods that have cute/funny faces. I have gotten a little bit of food in past swapping, you can see it here...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r283/amystagner/Jan2009350.jpg
)
Awesome shirts or hoodie - please no iron ons (they do not last in my wash and my kiddo picks at anything that he thinks is a sticker) - in any of his favorite things or check out the examples on his wist (link below, and yes I made my kid his own wist, haha)
*
A boy doll (my husband and FIL will get over it, I don't know why it's ok for him to have animal lovies, but not a boy doll lovie), I think these ones are adorable...
http://youcanmakethis.com/info/toys-activities/John-Doll-15-inch.htm
.
Lounge pants/shorts or PJs in fabrics in his favorite things.
Art for bedroom/bathroom (painting/embroidery/fabric/etc) - Bedroom is transportation themed, bathroom is monkeys/jungle. (Here is a link to my flickr set with pictures of both rooms-the only thing that is different now other than furniture being moved around is the Thomas curtain on the window, it's posted on here somewhere... also his bathroom has now been painted blue (it's the same color as the elephant on the shower curtain)-
http://www.flickr.com/photos/amystagner/sets/72157603919027797/
)
Transportation themed (or Thomas themed) Bedding... blanket/quilt/sheets/pillowcases (please no fleece blankets, he has like 5 of them now)... twin sized.
*
Something to help him with mastering buttoning buttons and tying laces and snapping snaps (like on pants/jeans), etc... he knows what to do, but gets really frustrated when he trying to get dressed so I think something he could practice on that isn't on him would be good.
Sewing/crocheting patterns for infants/toddlers/boys/girls (we plan on having at least one more, it might be a little while, but I have been collecting patterns so I will be ready when we do)
*
I would especially love a pattern for toddler underpants (like these...
http://youcanmakethis.com/info/boys/Childrens-Undies.htm
&
http://youcanmakethis.com/info/boys/Knit-Boxers-Sizes-2-7.htm
). He keeps asking for a pair of Mario underpants but they don't make them, so I am going to have to see if I can find some old Mario shirts and make him some (unless you want to make some for him, he wears size 2T atm, skinny little booty, but the next size up would be good too he can't just grow up forever right, he has to grow out at some point...)
*
Fun colorful kid soaps to encourage washing in the bath (right now I do all the washing and I would like it if he would start doing it himself), ones with toys inside would be great too.
Mario (as in the Nintendo Mario bros) amigurumi - snugglably sized.
Really anything Mario or MarioKart related, kid loves some Mario games.
*
Craft projects we can work on together (no foam kits or bits, we are over-run with them and he just keeps sticking them to my dining table which they are quite hard to remove from), anything to help fuel his natural craftiness (it's very much in his genes).
Fabric in any of his favorite things or other kids prints (no baseball prints though please...) (cotton-I am sorely lacking cotton prints atm, fleece, flannel, knits, any kind!)
*
Small balls of yarn for all the amigurumi's he keeps requesting that I make him (I destashed all mine months ago, right before he discovered the awesomeness of amis).
Any of these crochet patterns -

,
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18166245
(or other cute patterns that are similar)
Extras/Store bought - We love candy/snacks (especially ones from other countries!), puzzles (used is fine, as long as all the pieces are there), books (again, used is fine as long as there aren't any pages torn out or anything like that), viewmaster reels, unwanted gameboy games, age appropriate craft supplies, stickers,
*
cookie cutters (Q LOVES to make cookie cutter cookies).

(there are examples of most of the things on the list on here)

I claim Zelda.Suicide for a boy doll.
This is my 1st claim, 0 sent, 0 received.
I’m a SAHM living in suburban Maryland with my 5-year-old daughter Autumn, boyfriend Adam, two pet rats, a lhasa apso and half a dozen imaginary friends. We are big on encouraging creativity in our home and teaching our daughter to love and respect nature. I’m also a big fan of natural/recycled materials as well as anything that’s good for the environment.
Autumn loves pirates, knights, dragons, fairies, superheroes and robots. Her favorite animals are sharks, bears, whales, dinosaurs and all kinds of bugs. Her favorite colors are blue and orange.
Most of the links I’m posting are just examples to give you a general idea. It doesn’t have to be an exact match.
*Elastic waist skirts in a size 4 or 21” waist in prints with her favorite colors or interests. It’s so hard to find girls’ clothes with the things she likes. Everything is all flowers and pastels. They don’t make clothes for tomboys!
*a monster backpack
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_15&listing_id=18493950&ga_search_query=monster+backpack&ga_search_type=tag_title
(doesn't have to be as elaborate as this one, but faux fur with pointy teeth is preferred)
*a doll sling for her teddy bear
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_13&listing_id=21040663&ga_search_query=doll+sling&ga_search_type=tag_title
*Applique, painted, embroidered or stenciled T-shirts or a hoodie featuring her interests, size 4 or 5
*wire bubble wands in fun shapes:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=19857017
*dyed playsilks—doesn’t have to be silk; muslin or any sort of soft flowy fabric will do:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vt_related_1&listing_id=21072489
*dress up clothes—she LOVES costumes. Capes, crowns, costume jewelry, wings, hats, animal ears and tails, etc. No pirate costumes please--she already has 3 of those
*felt or crochet food, especially fruits & veggies, sushi or a sandwich
*animal hand or finger puppets
*Soapsicles
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_10&listing_id=19686369&ga_search_query=soapsicle&ga_search_type=tag_title
*a female pirate, superhero or knight doll
*bug art, plushies or throw pillows for her bug themed bedroom
*kid friendly gardening supplies such as seeds, flower pots, a gardening apron, row markers, etc.
*fairy bell rings
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v489/lilpurplecat/?action=view¤t=il_430xN23983062.jpg
*a monster plushie
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_8&listing_id=20186594&ga_search_query=monster&ga_search_type=category_tags_children.toy
*a girly dump truck shirt
http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=9145626
Thank you in advance to whoever picks me!
