hairbow made from recycled money

I made this hair bow from an old Polish banknote, lacquered.

I feel like a bit of a chump, though - when I made this I was convinced that Poland used the Euro now and that the currency was obsolete, so the money was worthless... but, as was pointed out here, I was wrong!

I'm still really pleased with hairbow - I think it's really pretty, but I also think it's kind of offensive. I struggle and I know how much of a difference £1 or £2 can make, and I hate it when people don't appreciate that, so it feels a bit hypocritical wearing money in my hair, but ahh well. What's done is done...!

Why would this make you feel more guilty than wearing a 10$ necklace or earrings or having a nice haircut (which you have)? 
I think your hairbow is spiffy and pretty and clever and if anything I think it makes a subtle criticism about capitalism.  "If we're all going to spend money on our appearance, I'll just wear money."

I agree with the dig about money.  I love the bow and it makes a bold statement.

very pretty and makes a cool statement too - I love this idea and I wonder if I could still get my hands on some old Canadian 2 dollar bills which I don't think are still worth anything (tho I could be wrong)

and hey, if you ever go to poland and really need some extra money you've got it in your hair! just make sure no one nabs it =P

No we canadians don't use 2$ bills anymore, we've got coins.    You could also find a canadian dollar bill, but those have been out of circulation for a lot longer then the 2 dollar bill

This is very unique!  I've made a lot of bows but never used money!!  Very fun!!
