Morning all - it's string-from-fluff time!

Here's what I've finished off this week.

This is Tequila Sunrise - I showed you the roving I dyed for it last week. I'm really proud of how squishy it is.

And this is a 3-ply merino/silk blend. It's obscenely soft. It's my first 3-ply using 3 bobbins - in the past I've used centre-pull balls. It's so much easier! But you do end up with a lot of leftovers.

And a little taster of what might be coming next week...

mmmmmmmm...yummmmmm  I think I could use a little Tequila Sunrise this morning (and I don't drink alcohol Wink)

I will finally have something to post next week, I could do it this week, but then my swap partner might see (since it is for the handspun swap, there is a greater likelihood she would pop in here).  *sigh*

I haven't posted in a few weeks.. I've been doing more carding than spinning..
Here's some new stuff I finished

This one is my most favorite.. I took big handfuls from all my HollyEQQ fiber, and added that to the "batty babe bags" i have from her.. which is bits of her fiber stash- and put all that in a 10 gallon ziploc.  I then jumbled it all up and dumped it on the floor and just started spinning.  There's LOTS of stuff in this yarn.. felted llama locks, suri alpaca locks, uncarded corridale, uncarded merino, cotswold lamb, kid mohair locks, banana silk, sari silk, glitz..  I even cut up a colorful silk scarf and spun that in.  I then plied the SUPER BULKY single with black rayon thread.  It's 2-3 wraps per inch... really bulky.  I had to hand wind the entire 2 bobbins (36 yards filled TWO bobbins!!!)
It's in the Bag- 36 yards

LOST! is my most favorite show on TV and I'm SOOO happy it's back on!! For the premier I spun a LOST! yarn.  It's corespun mini batts, 2 skeins total.  Lots of blues and greens.. the colors on the island.. but with pops of colors and sparkles.. from hatches and beach camps, polar bears and freighters.  There's some black swirling thru.. for the smoke monster is always hiding around the corner..  and twice in each skein there are small sections of black bamboo- where the smoke monster actually shows himself..
I just LOVE how this turned out!!
LOST! 108 yards total between 2 skeins, corespun on cotton crochet thread

I spun a VERY RARE 2ply.  I just never spin 2plies.. but this one had to be spun!! The fiber is from exclusivelylindalee .etsy.  One ply is bfl, in her "winter morn" colorway (which is pinks and plums.. some light grey and ivory) and then the second ply is bamboo in her "syrah" colorway (which is darker pinks, plums, grey and ivory)  Plied together it looks so YUMMY!!
Bessame Mucho, 164 yards (2 skeins, 8 oz total)

this is 8oz of some Zen String bamboo I have been hoarding in her "delight" colorway.  I added butterfly blue, chocolate, blue opal and light purple angelina

Happy Friday everyone!!

*blush*
awwwwwwwwww you guys... LOL!!

KathleenAlice- Check out this AWESOME little tutorial that Hobbledehoy Liz posted on her flickr.. it's really helpful to see how the fiber wraps around the core with very little twist..
http://www.flickr.com/photos/hobbledehoy-liz/2553963625/

Like Liz, I wrap my core thread around my left hand.. so it has tension.  But I don't hold it really tight.. so it doesn't build twist..  and I predraft my fibers pretty well.. and then draft as I go.. like Liz does in the little video.

I'll try to take one of myself this weekend.. I have LOTS of corespinning to do...

I haven't been around in a while, and I have really missed seeing all of the fiber.  Everything is beautiful so far, but I especially love the Lost yarn (being a fan of the show, too).

I have a few things to share that I have spun up in the last few weeks.

Frozen - a blend of wool, mohair and metallic thread.

and the sister yarn:

White Witch - wool, mohair, metallic thread and beads.

Midnight - cotswold, mohair and angelina

and finally,

Illusion - silk/merino blend from Blue Moon Fiber Arts.
