a thousand times "yes".

I love seeing the efforts of people new to a technique. You're not bogged down in what can or can't be done.

You've made something incredible, thanks for sharing it.

Wow, thank you so much for your kind words everyone! It's very encouraging.

I was actually thinking about doing this for my next big project - except doing several squares and making a quilt! I think it would take forever though, hahaha.

Wow!  When I read that this was your first attempt at embroidery, I was impressed.  Then you said you free-handed this and I was blown away!  This is awesome.  What a terrific first project.

Oh, wow, that is so awesome!! It's very striking, being done in one color like that. I think only working it in backstitch is perfect for the design. By the way, your design is incredible. I'd be sorely tempted to frame it and hang it on the wall, myself, so that I and others could behold its magnificence on a regular basis Wink . Stellar first attempt.

This is spectacular! I wish my first attempts at any craft came out as beautifully as this did! I'm blown away!

I can't believe this was your first embroidery. I mean, I DO believe you. But, it's amazing! If you could have seen my first attempt at embroidery ... yours is a masterpiece compared to the mess I had when I was done!

I love this. I'm totally obsessed with nautical themes as well. I adore sailboats. This is such an amazing piece.

Great job!  Smiley
