Hello!

Are there any higher quality fabric stores in Maine that any of you could recommend to go to please?

Stores that carry fabrics that I have seen so far in my research are Jo-Anns and Z-Fabrics. I have seen various quilt shops, but are looking for stores that carry silk, wool, cotton blends, etc. to make higher end clothing.  Just curious.

Or do many of you travel to Boston and if so, where to?

Thank you!  Grin

I am not sure exactly what they have but there is a fabric store in Scarborough called Bosal Foam and Fabric.  The store is located on Rt 1 near Dunstan Schoolhouse Restaurant.  Their website isn't working at the moment, but when it was it looked like they had a great variety!  Hope that helps!!!!

I have to go to a variety of stores to get my needs met.  I like On Board Fabrics in Edgecomb for the variety.  They carry some imports, some nice cottons, linens, upholstry weight, etc.

Alewives in Damariscotta Mills for the cottons (and they have such a fabulous range).

A fabric store in downtown Gardiner, Maine (on Water St.) whose name is currently escaping me for wools.

Notions (buttons, thread) I end up at whippersnappers in Hallowell, Me.

I used to go to a handbag place in Randolph, ME for silks, velvets, linens etc. but they went out of business a year ago Sad

Anything else I end up at Jo Anns for as there aren't any other fabric stores near me that meet my needs.
