I made these cupcakes using the Hummingbird bakery recipe (The Hummingbird bakery is rapidly becoming a London institution by all accounts!). I slightly modified it to make it less lavender-y just in case people didn't like them (they're for a baby shower) The recipe recommended leaving the milk and lavender leaves together in the fridge overnight for the cakes but I let them in just for a couple of hours. I also used Golden caster sugar to make them a little sweeter. I left the lavender and milk for the butter icing overnight and piped it on this morning. AS it's for a baby shower for a little girl I left the purple food colouring out but sprinkled edible pink glitter over the top. I'll let you know how they went down!

(I can't post images yet, but here are the urls!)

I love the flavor of lavender! I've made lavender muffins, but not cupcakes.  Smiley

Ooh, wonderful idea!  I made lavender sugar cookies around Christmas time.  I had made some lavender sugar with the herbs from my garden and I substituted it for half the sugar in the recipe.  They were great with tea!

I like the idea of lavender cupcakes.  I'll have to try that out.

These are so pretty! I'm really excited to learn of the existence of edible glitter.
