I made these cupcakes using the Hummingbird bakery recipe (The Hummingbird bakery is rapidly becoming a London institution by all accounts!). I slightly modified it to make it less lavender-y just in case people didn't like them (they're for a baby shower) The recipe recommended leaving the milk and lavender leaves together in the fridge overnight for the cakes but I let them in just for a couple of hours. I also used Golden caster sugar to make them a little sweeter. I left the lavender and milk for the butter icing overnight and piped it on this morning. AS it's for a baby shower for a little girl I left the purple food colouring out but sprinkled edible pink glitter over the top. I'll let you know how they went down!

I love the flavor of lavender! I've made lavender muffins, but not cupcakes.  Smiley

Ooh, wonderful idea!  I made lavender sugar cookies around Christmas time.  I had made some lavender sugar with the herbs from my garden and I substituted it for half the sugar in the recipe.  They were great with tea!

I like the idea of lavender cupcakes.  I'll have to try that out.
