So, I was inspired by a post here. Someone found a website that had a meat cake. I knew I needed to make this and I finally did for my husband's birthday. I used about 3lbs of a lean beef, and about 1.5lb of ground pork. I would have included some lamb if the store I went to had it ground. I forget what I throw in my meatloaf, it changes every time. I know it had onion and garlic. I did a filling between the layers of ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. The frosting is mashed taters and the writing is just ketchup.

ignore my messy stove. I just made a huge, greasy meatloaf. Smiley

I need to make this cake!
The closest thing I can think of for such an occasion is fathers day, which works perfectly.

I may make my mothers famous meat loaf in a round cake pan and use cheesy mashed potatoes for the icing.

..you made my day!

I made a bunch of meatloaf muffins for a gathering. I frosted them with mashed potatoes, and decorated a few with ketchup "icing gel". They were a hit   Smiley

Unfortunately, no one could adequately explain to the 2 y/o why the "cake" wasn't exactly cake.
