I am from Northern California and am going to Bemidji for a week in July.  Can anyone tell me if there are any yarn shops in the Bemidji area (besides the Joannes/chain stores)?  I doubt if I'm going to be able to get my boyfriend to take me farther than an hour away and there's no way he's going to let me drive around the Land of a Thousand Lakes alone! (he thinks I'm an idiot)  Thanks!

My parents live in the area and I lived there until a few years ago, sadly there are no yarn shops in the city that I know of.  The closest thing is Monica's in Park Rapids, it's a quilt and yarn store, more than half of the store is fabric:

If you ever come back to Bemidji...
We actually have a place called the Woolen Mills located right downtown. They sell amazing yarn that is all wool and comes in A TON of colors, they even sell wool roving, and yarn spun from local sheep. It's located right downtown.
