Details of Swap:
Do you have a drawer full of jewelry that you haven't worn in years earring, necklaces, bits and pieces? I was inspired to organize this swap when I saw a fellow crafter transform her old jewelry odds and ends into a beautiful necklace full of stories.
**You will be crafting 1 necklace or 1 bracelet - that will be your partners choice. The number of addons ( charms ) will be up to you and your junk jewery pile, make it interesting and have fun.  Here is your chance to really clean out your junk jewelry drawer. Please include a list or story of each charm that you add to your creation - it's fun to read where everything came from.

1. Part of a child's earring, possible Barbie branded, that I have somehow acquired. Not the best story for number one.
2. A nice Orange bead. Again, source unknown.
3. The pendent of a necklace given to me by my Nana. As I don't wear small, understated pieces, I've never been able to use it.
4. A brass ring, possibly from a curtain rail.
5. A purple star from said expensive eBay necklace that turned out to be from New Look.
6. Part of a lovely Accessorize necklace that came apart.
7. The back of a giant diamond (real, obviously) from a Jinny Loves Rosie bracelet given to me for Christmas by my beautiful boyfriend, Jinny.
8. I love shells. This is not a real one though, but a fake one. From Hobby craft. What a sell out.
9. A playing card earring from eBay. It looked much nicer in the picture.
10. This used to have a blue oval stone in it, and it used to be part of a bracelet from Topshop.
11. A pendent from a necklace given to me by a child when I was a child. I loved it. It was turquoise, it had glitter in it, and it was in the shape of a heart for gaudiness sake.
12. Another pendent from my Nana, this time it wasn't one of her old pieces, but from a black plaited bracelet, possible as a souvenir from somewhere like Malta.
13. A piece of a belt from Next.
Here is your chance to take those junk jewelry bits and pieces - put them together in a whole new way. If you can include a list

This sounds like a great swap! I'll be watching, but I may not sign up depending on my work schedule for the next month. Should know soon!

ooooh I may have to do this.

Do we need to use only things from our stash, or can we go out and buy stuff that reminds us of a story or something meaningful to us? I have some great stuff that I've wanted to use for something and haven't had an opportunity to!

oh, and do I understand that we're only sending the necklace? Can we send other goodies if we want to? Is there a certain amount of charms we should put on it?

You can use your stash or buy - I just love they way you can take junk and then turn it in to something wonderful!
You don't have to make a necklace - a bracket or a pretty broach.

I'm really tempted to join this swap but I just signed up for 2 others and I don't want to neglect anything. It would, however, be an excuse to purchase some more vintage gumball machine charms.

I love the necklace in the picture and adore the idea of a story/explanation for each charm! If I don't sign up, I'm totally going to keep my eye on this! Great idea!
