I used Fiber Trends pattern to knit up a hedgehog!  Not only was this project more fun than making mittens, he is beyond cute:

After felting him, I went out and bought supplies to make more of these.  I wish there weren't knitting projects promised to others so I could get started on the next one!  I love the white eyelash against his tawny "fur."

:oHe is ADORABLE!! I wish I could knit so I could make these little critters for myself.
Did you make him from a pattern?

You can purchase this pattern anywhere you can find Fiber Trends patterns!  Here's a link so you know what you're looking for!

Oh, he's so adorable! I want one! [grin] I once found a knitting pattern for a Clanger and decided that I wanted to learn how to knit so that I could make one. I never did get round to that... (I sort of learned how to knit but gave up long before the standard first scarf was finished, and now I think I've forgotten how!)

Yeah, felting always look so complicated. People tell me it isn't, though.

Felting is the easy part!  First you knit it up -- then it's a matter of throwing it in the washer with an old pair of jeans and a tennis shoe!  Smiley

I found a Hedgehog pattern awhile back and I have it saved on my computer. I think it might have been a Lion Brand pattern but I love this pattern even more. I like that it is felted. It just looks better that way.  I've been wanting to make some hedgehogs for a friend for her birthday. I was thinking about making some in colors to match her hedgehogs and making some in funky bright colors just for fun!   Smiley  Thanks for sharing!

I've had this pattern for over a year and still haven't made one.  I'm only a beginner knitter and a bit afraid of this pattern.

  Your hedgehog is adorable!

Crocheting is like prostitution.  First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.  Maybe that is why they call us Hookers?

everkutz - don't be afraid -- just try this!  My advice?  when you are picking up stitches, use a small gauged dp (I used a size 4) and run it through the "bumps" along the edge.  Then knit those off the little needle -- this is an Elizabeth Zimmerman trick and it's freakin' awesome!  The crochet hook method is a good way to do it too.  I would say picking up the 77 stitches around the front to knit the back is the hardest part!  Also, mistakes in this beauty do not show up, so just go for it!  make yourself a hedgehog!  I have two more waiting to be felted!

I bow to your advanced knowledge of hedgies and vow to do my best. I think I've got some lime green and red muppet, now to match it up to yarn.  Tongue

Oh, I have this pattern! Your hedgehog is so cute (and I love hedgehogs). Now I really, really want to get started with it but, like you, I've unwisely overextended myself in the knitted gift department and I don't have time yet. Soon though, soon...
