I just bought my first house in June, 2008. When I first walked in to the house I knew it was perfect...or would be, after a little elbow grease. After several months of paint in my hair (literally, people at work would know what room I had worked on the day before by the color in my hair), calluses on my hands, and the awesome side effect of losing 20 lbs (squee!) I finally finished. Well, with the inside. The garden is my next big task.

There are waaayyy too many pictures to put in here, so I'm going to link to my flickr set below. But just to give you a taste of what I was working with...here are some before and afters of what was the orange, wallpapered kitchen:

No, my friends. Your eyes aren't lying to you....the ceiling was also painted orange. Snazzy!

I'm incredibly proud of how well my house came out. I'm also in love with the fact that I have a dedicated craft room - probably my favorite room in the house. Please let me know what you think...Thanks!

Hope you like the pictures!

Your house is beautiful. The kitchen cabinets look so much better without the flowered wallpaper Cheesy

holy crap! I'm so glad too see people doing this kind of work.  We are hoping to buy a house this year and i anticipate using lots of elbow greaseand sweat.  and probably blood and tears.  you are a reassurance that hard work does pay off.

It seems that different people have an idea of what I am, and what I should be. And then there's me.

WOW!  It all looks great!  I'm pretty sure I have the same yellow as your craftroom in my master bedroom - LOVE that color!  I am also in love with your guest room - it looks so peaceful - and you're glass kitchen cabinets!  So pretty!
