I am exchanging holiday gifts this week (the beginning of 2nd semester) with my college friends, as I was too busy during finals to figure out gift giving.

My one friend loves owls and sleep masks and I just so happened to stumble upon this tutorial http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/tutorial-owl-eye-mask.html.  I ended up adjusting the pattern, but the basic idea is the same.

Scarf 1:
I made up this pattern for a short pull through scarf.

Scarf 2:
Another pattern I made up as I went along. I wanted to make a really textural scarf and the pattern emerged as I figured out which yarns were easiest to crochet into one another.

These are my first crochet projects in years. I learned to crochet as a child but haven't really made anything since.  Comments and criticism is much appreciated!

I LOVE the second scarf!
I wish I was in your head, so I can steal that pattern!  Cheesy

I am very sorry to anyone wishing to look at the pictures that I have previously posted. Photobucket deleted my account without warning.  :/

The scarves are beautiful, but I especially love the owl sleep mask.

My "criticism" is that you ought not have waited so long to take up crochet again, considering you're so good at it. Cheesy  That lattice work pull-through section is clever, the other scarf is pretty, and the owl sleep mask is both funny and cute.
