I've been making lots of bags from this corduroy I got for $2 a yard at Walmart. I made my 17 y/o sister an owl bag for Christmas. My daughter really liked it and I promised to make her one. Seeing as she is a difficult child and likes her things to be original...She wanted a Tootsie Pop owl with an umbrella?? She also wanted an extra long strap so she could wear it across her body instead of a shoulder bag.
The second bag I also made for my daughter and she didn't like it  Huh  I thought it was cute.  Cheesy (My daughter is 12, btw)

this bag is a lot smaller

Both bags are really cute!  You did a wonderful job on the owl embroidery/applique.  And I like the other bag, too. It reminds me of an argyle sweater design -- sorry to hear that your daughter didn't like it.   Cry

Was it hard to work on the corduroy?  It looks pretty soft, but I'm wondering how is was doing the applique and embroidery on a ribbed surface.

Thanks for sharing your projects!

Thank you!
It was pretty easy to applique on the corduroy. For my sisters owl I stitched down each piece individually and it was a pain. For this applique, I used no sew glue to put it all together and then just pinned it on the bag and stitched over everything. The ribbed surface didn't really interfere at all.
The last bag was an argyle inspired design! I wanted to do three diamonds, but I was no good at getting them to line up correctly  Cheesy

The umbrella is such a sweet touch.  I like them both though.

Behind every great crafter is a kitteh, waiting to eat patterns, sprawl on fabric, and attack knitting.

They're both gorgeous and super cute, though actually what made me smile even more was CAT! Hello, cat :-)

When she was good, she was very very good - but when she was bad she was fabulous.
