I made these scissors for my talented hairstylist, Jeannie, who has made my hair multi-coloured since 1993:

The scissor's finger rings were crocheted around two plastic bone rings, and a heart-shaped safety nose acts as the joint. These yarn scissors don't actually move, but a Sharpie pen on yellow paper creates animated wonders!

Snip snip!

Jacobsmomma: Thanks for the kind words!  I improvised this design over the holidays, but here are my fuzzy recollections of the pattern:

For each scissor arm, I started with sc stitches around the bone ring until the plastic was covered.  The second row ran 4 sc stitches before turning and building up ten more rows of 4 sc stitches.  I decreased in the last two or three rows.

The trickiest part was using the heart-shaped safety nose as the joint.  The button wasn't long enough to join the two blades until I used padded pliers to mash the heart front into its plastic backing.

I hope these recollections are a helpful starting point, at least!

Thanks again!

These scissors are super cute, and I love your blog! Funny and beautifully photographed - what more can you ask? I've been ignoring the crochet board lately so as not to remind my crochet projects that I haven't had time for them - but I saw this in Hot New Topics and now I'm all caught up. And the orange looks like an orange - those pumpkin people are crazy! Cheesy
