It's only taken me a year to get these sheep mounted up and finished! Here's a WIP pic from last Jan ... wip sheep

And here they are all finished...

Some are an bit odd shaped, but i'm pleased with the final piece. Especially as this was my first attempt at french knots.

oh, those are so precious!  I just recently learned the french knot and I really enjoy using them (mostly for nostrils for stuffies).  yours look so fluffy, did you use regular embroidery floss? they're just SO cute!

*gasp!*   I LOVE this!!!!!  Its wonderful!  quick story about me and sheep.  Apparently when I was a babe I'd make sheep noises, and not just baaa baaa, but the actual bleating sound.  Fast forward 16 years, I got my first car and the plates on it, by fluke, were ### BAA.  My mom thought it was hillarious, and got me a little sheep mascot for my car.  I still have it,  even though I have diffrent plates.   I've always loved sheep, they are so cute!    If I had a wist, this would be on it!

I saw these on your Flickr and LOVED it!  I really suck at the french knots, even though I've tried so many times.  I also love the fabric you used.  This looks absolutely lovely!

Oh. Mah. Lawrd. I love them. So much. Your application of the French knot is so creative XD Is it weird that I really want to touch it?

I made a painting like this about a year ago, just some sheeps in a field. I'm obsessed with drawing them, even though I've never seen a sheep in person!

hockamama - It's just dmc thread ... but I've used 6 strands so the knots are quite chunky.  Smiley

I made one massive sheep out of french knots... I absolutely hated doing it!  It was my first time doing french knots, but now I'm a pro!

Great job, very cute!

The only knots I am good at are the ones that make me yank out half of whatever I have been working on so this is most impressive!!!

Thanks for all your lovely comments  Kiss

tanechka - I've done a mixture of 2 and 3 twists with a 6 strand thread, so they're quite large.

Check this video tutorial on needle'nthread - http://www.needlenthread.com/2006/11/french-knot-video-tutorial.html
