These were more Christmas pressie amongst the womenfolk in my family.

I wish I could let you know where I found the tutorial, but the printout I have does not have the website on it. Its just a long strap tote, with a couple of inside pockets and the bottom square off. It was very easy to make and I think they look excellent.

So here they go...

The bags not even close to being filled

I hope you like them too. Any feedback or comments are much appreciated
Happy viewing, happy crafting and happy new year!

Very nice; love your choice of fabrics. It looks like tinyhappy's tute. I think the link is
http://www.tinyhappy.typepad.com/tiny_happy/2006/06/shoulder_bag_tu.html

It is a wonderful tute. I have made it several times and am about to make two more for two young girls as casual bags to take to work.

Thank you so much, MissMigraine. Cheesy

Yes, bagtart, that is the tutorial! Grin The only thing I did was use a "L" shape rather than the inverted "T" so I could cut along a fold in the fabric for more even sides (I am so rubbish at making my own patterns even). Thank you for finding the link!

Hi again Plumcrafty. It took me a while to visualise in my head what you meant by the L shape instead of the T shape but once I got it (ie I think you made a half pattern placing it on the fold to get the opposite sides even?) I realised it will help me make mine more even and allow me to vary the width of the handle more exactly!! Thanks so much for that idea!!

Again your bags are great - you may say you are rubbish at getting your patterns even but your sewing sure is great!!!

I think this bag you made is awesome.  I can't wait to try out the tut!  My friends have started asking me why I need so many bags.  LOL  I think they are hinting at me to give them away.

bagtart, you're welcome... I can't wait to see your bags!

CloudHuggers, one can never have too many bags, but I suspect you are right on your friends wanting one of yours!

I love this pattern.  Have used it several times.

The last time I made it using flowered fabric somehow I got one side with flowers facing up (stems down) and the other side had the flowers upside down.  Had a real duh moment on that one.

Guess I need to think before I cut from now on.

Thanks so much for the idea - I'm always looking for easy patterns - and for linking to the tute!
I hope I can do at least one this week. Can't wait to try it!

Thanks Plumcrafty,
next step will be to try a longer version of the same bag, big enough to carry some notebooks.
Happy sewing everyone!  Wink

Hi Plumcrafty - am finally uploading my versions of this bag ( I actually think these are my 5th and 6th!!). I am a teacher and here in Australia the new school year has just started so I've been pretty busy!!

As I said in a previous post in this thread these are for two young girls I know who are now both working. Needless to say one is into pink and one into black!!!!!
