Please remember to post in the spirit of Craftster. This phrase gets tossed around a lot, and is sometimes difficult to nail down precisely, but here are a couple of things to keep in mind:Selling:
Most Craftster members don't sell their work, and most don't come to Craftster to see advertisements for Etsy or EBay. Please do not post projects that are merely advertisements for your shops!
Craftster is a place to discuss how things are made, to share your crafty exploits, and to seek inspiration. While you are allowed to post links to your shops in your signatures, I will delete any mention of sales or shops in your posts. Additionally, if you only post photos of your work with no information and you have a shop, this will be interpreted as an advertisement.
Many of us have blogs or other sites where we like to discuss our work. Please do not people to your off-site blogs, Deviant Art pages, etc. unless you have posted the same amount of information here.
Ideally, we'd like to see complete content on Craftster - why not share a tutorial on the site, instead of just on your blog (then we can include it on the Crochet Pattern Archive!)? The more information you post, the cooler and more useful Craftster becomes - why not be a part of that?
Please remember that once someone has posted asking about a turorial, all further tutorial posts will be deleted,
as per the Craftster rules. Also, remember that demanding is generally rude - there's a big difference between "OMG POST A PATTERN NOW!!" and "Wow - your project is really fantastic! I love your color choices - is there a pattern available?"
Keep in mind that in order to comply with rules about sales fishing, posters may ignore your request for a pattern! There is nothing to prevent you from PM'ing the poster, however, or checking their signatures for an Etsy shop (this should be the first thing you do before you make a pattern request post, in fact).
Remember that these rules are in place to make Craftster, and by extension Crochet, a better place. These rules can also be found in greater detail in the Craftster Need To Know Guide
- make sure you check out 10. Etiquette, Tips, and DOs and DON'Ts
if you haven't already. And, of course, you can always feel free to PM me or another mod.
Thanks, and happy hooking!
