keep an eye on the floor - my huge eyeball rug

Hello everyone.
This is the first time I start a topic, so I am very excited. I am going to tell you about my huge eyeball rug. I was really inspired by some pictures of rugs made of old t-shirts I saw here, so I decided to make one. All I used for it were my hands (because I coudnt get a crochet hook big enough) old t-shirts, sweatshirts, scraps of elastic fabric und an ugly fleece blanket. The ruler on this picture ist 50 cm long, so you can imagine how big the rug is.

I got the question how I crocheted without a crocheting hook. So I will try to explain:
I just pretended that the forefinger of my right hand was a crocheting hook. Then I crocheted the rug as a normal circle, making all the movements the hook does using my finger, while holding the rug whith the other hand. This "no hook" technique was quite tricky at the biginning but then I got used to it. Sorry, if I could not explain this technique very well, but my English is not good at all, when it comes to technical terms of crocheting.

That is insanely amazing!  I love when someone takes an already creative concept and puts their own even more creative twist on it.  You did just that and did a fantastic job on it!  How long did it take you altogether??

I took me two weekends and a lots of episodes of "the simpsons" to complete this rug.
The idea to make an eye just came into my mind after i startet making it and wondered how I shold arrange the colours.
