Gung Hey Fat Choy!  Lunar New Year is Monday, January 26. In celebration of Chinese New Year I tried to make my Bichon Frise, Prince, a Chinese outfit. Something like this http://asianideas.com/lochandve.html.

This is my rendition for a dog.

Here some detail shots
The robe is made with a navy bridal satin. This is the front view showing band collar.I also try to make it so that it looks like one piece in the front, instead of having a opening down the front.

This is the robe when it is all open to show the over flap.

This garment is completely lined with contrasting cotton fabric. This also shows the snap closures.

The vest is made with a Chinese brocade and trimmed with white satin piping.

The vest lining with giant snaps (that was all I had).

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for looking.

Your work is amazing, you have a great creativity,

have you done some chinese vest for yourself also?
(not for going for a walk together, even when that would be funny, it's that I'm thinking on a project of a chinese vest for me)

Great vest, Adorable dog. I have maltepoos (Maltese-poodle mix) and they don't mind being dressed up but give me that look, "momma why do you do this to me?"
I will definitely want to attempt this since I have my sewing machine working now, Yay. Can you suggest any other patterns for small/medium sized dogs?

Thanks for the compliments. I haven't made a Chinese vest for myself yet.  I am debating if I want to make one for a friend's baby.

We usually dress the dog so that we can last a few more days before we need to give him a bath.  It is hard to keep white dogs clean. My dog doesn't seem to mind when I dress him up.  We started when he was young so he is use to it now.
For the vest I used this pattern with some modifications. http://www.simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=3952. I followed the Santa suit without the sleeves and also shorten it.
I've used this one a couple of times. http://www.simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=2755 My dog is 15 lbs and he is a size small.

It seems that different people have an idea of what I am, and what I should be. And then there's me.
