woven origami box prototype

Here's a prototype / proof of concept of a project that I'm working on.  It's a simple origami square box... but instead of using regular paper, I decided to weave strips of paper together.  Here's the result:


The tape you see on the inside was originally on the edge of the woven sheet I made... I had to bind/hem the edges together to prevent the strips from sliding out.  I was originally thinking of something fancy to bind the edges, but then I realized that the binding would be on the inside of the box. 



Here's the box filled with some puffy stars (if you want to learn how to make the puffy stars check out this tut)... I hope to have a tut on how to make this box on my website by jan 25th. The tut on how to make this square box is now available here.

The tut is up on my site now.  In the instructional video, I use a regular sheet of square origami paper, but it's the same pattern that I used to make this "woven" box.
