This is very easy to do and tastes yummy:
take a cup of whole almonds, non-roasted or salted and soak them for 24 hours, then rinse.  At this stage the almonds make a great snack, but refrigerate or else they rot.
take a handful of dried raisins and soak for 2 hours,
put almonds and raisins in the blender, fill up with water and i usually add maple syrup or honey for more sweetness, but for most people the raisins are just fine.
Blend, then strain with a fine strain, keep the pulp for cookies or cake.. and voila, you've got yummy almond milk that can refrigerate in your fridge.
I usually use organic almonds and purified water, but whatever suits you best!

Oooo, adding soaked raisins is a great idea!  I bet dates would be good too.
We used to have a local juice maker whip up almond milk with vanilla, chocolate or coffee added too.  Yum

So I actually just made my first batch of this last night and am in heaven!  I didn't use raisins, but used 5 medjool dates that I soaked and also added vanilla and a touch of coffee. Almond nectar is more like it...

Am playing around with how much water to use, and also trying to find some good uses for the leftover nut pulp.

woohoo!!  I'm glad you enjoy it as much as i do, and it is so simple : )  I still have to go out and buy dates and try it like that.  Do you soak your dates?

I soaked the dates in hot water.  They have enough flavor with their sweetness that the vanilla really didn't seem neccessary.

No, I don't soak them in hot water, room temperature water is what i use.  The almonds I usually put them soaking in a shelf to protect from direct sunlight.  it doesn't have to be raisins, that's for sweetening the milk, as you see McAuliflower used dates, you can use also honey, maple syrup, cane sugar, white sugar, stevia, coconut flakes, (hmm, that sounds good, coconut!)
