How do you fold up the poster board base??

see thats the tricky part of it...hard ta explain unless im in front of you doing it... i was thinking about posting a little u-tube video ta go with explaining it.... but it a 3-d wrapped diamond shape...it takes form if you let it lightly fold itself once youve done the first fold step process

Sorry I don't mean to be a pain the rear end...but I have a suggestion on how to make it a little more obvious with still pictures.... if you are up for it.

Start with white poster board, and cut yours strips then fold it up and unfold and trace the fold lines with a dark marker so the hill and valley folds show up.  Then start to fold it up and take severla pics as you go.

again just a suggestion.

I have been looking at all kinds of origami sites and none have an octahedron folded with just a straight strip of paper.  This intrigues me.  LOL

I figured out the folding....This might help.

Also, once they are folded, you need to tape the loose side to the whole. That is how to keep it in one shape.

Fold all on one side of the paper. Don't flip the paper.

Nope tassel and bells and gems anything that dangles from the chim chi has ta be added be for you fold the structure base....

No problemo.

I have discovered the following after making about 6 or 8 of them so far...

1.) I am making mine with card stock cut into 1.5" x 12" strips. This leaves a bit at the end which can be tucked in to hold it together without tape if desired

2.) HOWEVER -- I am wrapping mine first with masking tape, with the sticky side out. It helps to hold the string/ribbon when wrapping it.

3.) I am using quilting pins with fancy heads (hearts, flowers, colored balls) as the ends.  Seems to be working very well.

I still have to practice the wrapping of the string. I am using crocheting thread. It's a pain in the butt. So mine are still too sloppy to show off.I think i am going to try a few with fabric scraps also =).

Thanks for this Toby, I love them, and am making a few to send in a swap.

 Huh
after ruining several sheets of paper, finding tons of cimchi recipes but nothing on Chimchi's I am here to ask if anyone please could help this visual learner.
I looked up vids on how to fold a football but what I found didnt look 3d so that didn't help either... I just can't get how I'm folding this and was really looking forward to making one for my mum who just got home after receiving the last of her Chemo.

Thanks!
