(potentially NSFW?) extra large tee => the world's tackiest apron

My boyfriend loves to cook (lucky me!) but is really messy when he does so, and after x-mas brought him lots of nice new clothes, we decided that he really needed an apron to keep the mess contained and his clothes intact.  Several unsuccessful attempts to find a cheap apron at local thrift stores later, I decided I could make him one. However, I procrastinated for a few days until he announced that he would be baking delicious Spanish sweet potato cookies this afternoon, and I ran into my sewing room, calling back: "wait!! I'll make you an apron!!!"

Five minutes and really awful old t-shirt later, this:

And look, he's already smeared stuff all over it, lol. Anyway, I hated that shirt. I think a family member may have given it to me a few years ago, and besides the fact that it is about 3 sizes too big, look at the design! Ugh.

Anyway, the specs:
The edges are all still raw, because I was in a real hurry. The collar is intact, as a halter, and the waist strings are braided. In fact, I didn't sew anything! My only tool was a pair of scissors. Here is one more pic of the waist ties:
