I started making this sweater with a beautiful color in Caron's Simply Soft.  Problem is, the base row doesn't stretch at all.  I have huge hips and need a little stretch.  Has anyone made this sweater?  What yarn did you use?  Did you have enough stretch in the base row?

I chained my base row with a hook about 4 sizes bigger than my gauged hook. It helped a bit.

Hi there! not sure if this will work but I think that using a foundation single crochet gives you a much stretchier foundation row (at least, that what I read). I just learned the other day using this tutorial:

I'm hoping to use this for when I make the unseamly, so if you try it and it gives you enough stretch, let me know  Smiley

I learned the foundation single crochet specifically for this sweater.  It does make a difference - it's way stretchier and is tremendously easier to make the loop without twisting.
