So, it is no big deal but I love it so much.  I knit a scarf.  I don't really knit, but I'm learning.
This is about 4 inches wide and about 6 feet long.  I just knit (no purls) and I know that is called some kind of stitch.  Pretty simple.
one side:

the other side, which I like the most

and finally and action shot.

Good job!!! The first project is always a doozy, and so exciting to get done. Purl stitch really isn't that hard, and you can make stockinette stitch by alternating knit and purl rows, which looks more like what most people think of as "knit". A great resource for learning is http://www.knittinghelp.com/ which has videos. That's how I taught myself anyway.

Congratulations!! It's all up from here!

Thanks for the nice comments and the info on the stitches.  I've learned a few things:
1.  I didn't account for the stretch factor.
2.  When you show people what you made, they all want one.  Which a nice compliment, but how do you say no?

I always tell them, "I kinda have a lot of stuff lined up already. I'll let you know if that ever clears up." (Generally it's true.)

That scarf is gorgeous!
I have always wanted a scarf like this but I didn't know how to make it.
Can you please give the pattern?
Thanks! Wink
