Hi there!  Here's my third attempt at a fondant cake (and my first non-teal one!).  I tried to make a gift bow on top, but the fondant kept sagging.  I think I must have rolled it out too thin.  But overall, I was happy with the results.  I made it for my friend's surprise party, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the purple fondant matched the decorations EXACTLY - I couldn't have done that if I tried!  The cake inside is strawberry... sorry I don't have any pics of that.

tamakins37 - I recommend trying fondant; it's an adventure!  Just make sure you have a good rolling pin, something to smooth the fondant over the cake, and a LOT of powdered sugar!
