So My baby turned one a few days ago and I made him a stacking ring cake.  Its no where near perfect.  I should have stuck with marshmallow fondant, but of course i tried something new (white modeling chocolate rolled out into sheets like fondant and failed miserably)  So seeing as I only had 2 hours to finish it, and thats not near enough time to make fondant, I just used buttercream frosting.

This is what I modeled it after (loosly).  Its his fav toy.  He'll spend hours palying with that thing!

This is the inside.  I did have an extra white cake layer, that was green, but the green a)tasted horribly like food coloring and b) did not look right with the cake as a whole, so I took it off.  Also the purple on top tasted like food coloring too, so for serving purposes it was removed.  It was chocolate

And this was his reaction.  Apparently we have never given him anything so sweet......

c&c welcome!

Thanks for looking!

Wow!  That's a lot of cake.  I'm glad he liked it.  Good job.  I like the lines of the cake in contrast to the actual toy.

Thanks everyone!!  I know I could have done better, but it was enjoyed by everyone!    The cake itself was moist and scrumptious!  All made scratch too.  Down with cake mix!

Oh good!  I felt like maybe it looked a little generic.  I'm glad someone saw what I was trying to do!
