Ugh! This -10 degree windchill thing is freezing my brain. I walked out of the house this morning without my ATCs to mail. They'll have to go tomorrow.

I thought Id post here because of the love of paper crafters here. I started a paper crafting swap yesterday, for anything paper crafts

I think today has been an ATC fiasco!

Fiasco the one:  So we are in 3 person groups, I am doing 2 groups, 3x2=6, right? Duh! So yes, I sent all of one 3 card theme I sent out and then of the other other 3 card theme I made. At least I have extras if something goes awry, right?

Fiasco the second: Do you normally have to do a customs form to send these from USA-> Canada? I did the APC and selected that it was uneven, did the postage, etc. Asked the lady which one box it needed to be dumped in for Canada and then she said I had to do customs because it was uneven. I said it was a vday card but she said no,  so I just did it out of paranoia. Bleh. It wasn't that thick, about 1mm unevenness!

In canada, if there is anything in your envelope other than paper you are supposed to fill out a customs form when sending outside of canada.

So I always fill out a customs from for atcs and inchies....but...
the last time I went to the post office sending an atc and gave her the form she started discussing with me about atc's and said "these are just paper arent they" and I explained you know that it was paper, and like glue and stickers and odds and ends and such.

Well she ripped up my form and said " these are just paper " and sent them along haha.

I guess she was getting sick of me coming in weekly with forms for her to fill out etc for just little envelopes.

So since she ripped up my form, I dont fill out forms anymore when Im sending inchies and ATCs and things are fine.

I've never filled out forms for any that I've sent out of the US. They've all made it to the countries they were going to. As far as I know it hasn't been a problem for anyone. I think the only ones so far that never arrived were mailed to different states in the US. 

I just looked up postage on the internet US postal site for international mailing (read the descriptions of a letter thickness) & put the appropriate amount of stamps on it. Usually for slightly over as I just use first class stamps. I didn't want to bother with getting different priced stamps. I drop them off in the outgoing mail here at my apartment. Our outgoing mail slot won't take anything thicker than about 3/8 of an inch anyway.

some people are really anal about sending to canada or international, i've even had zines where they insisted on going down to the PO to fill out the forms (and charge me way more for them to do it!  ). the PO workers tend to be more anal than the mail handlers i think, it's the same with the PO workers here.

basically, if it's paper or a card, you're fine. just slap some stamps on it and toss it in the box! if it's a bit odd shaped or something, just write "card" on the envelope. they still arrive to us just fine!

I never keep stamps at home, so I just stock up a bunch of mail in the bag and take it all in ( make a nice line ) and yack to the ladies at the post office while they weigh things and stamp them. Mind you, I live in a village and the postal ladies love to talk to me, and have to see what Ive been crafting, and what Im getting in the mail and so on ahah.
They get upset if I seal a bubble mailer before I go in so then they cant see what goodies Ive made.

i think i prefer my grouchy postal workers, since my PO is open till 11pm 6 days a week, and 6pm on sundays! i mostly mail from the US anyway, since i'm so close to the border and most of the people i'm swapping with are in the US.
