Placemat "IQ Lights"

After finding the pattern to make pieces for IQ lights, I got addicted! I also found that plastic dollar store placemats work GREAT for these, despite being a little rough on the hands to cut out. That being said, the dollar store here sells 'em 2/$1, so the "shell" of these lamps works out to costing about $1.50, then it's just a matter of wiring it up!

Here are my first and last... unfortunately I don't have pics of the other 3 I completed. Besides these two, I made one out of pink flowery placemats, one out of these super cool green and brown geometric print mats, and another out of reddish orange mod ones. Hopefully I'll have pics soon!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the second one! Where did you learn how to make these?  Do you know of a tutorial I can check out?

http://www.iqlight.com/ has some tips on putting them together. I don't seem to have my pattern piece saved, but I just searched Craftster and found the one I originally used! I didn't realize it was from here! I'll have to edit my original post to give credit to these other beauties.

OMG I thought I was the only one to figure out about the placemats...I have 15 cut out so far...I'll post when I have it done...I chose one like your black and frosted one...but I live in Hawaii so mine has hawaiian leaves on it.
Great job....I haven't put a light inside mine yet....how are they handling the heat from the bulb?

I'm just using small bulbs inside mine, and they seem to be working just fine, as long as the bulb isn't touching the sides of the lamp. Can't wait to see yours!
