I hope that link works; I'm new so I don't know if it will.  Check out my image gallery if they don't show up.  Or if you have Ravelry, I'm BlackDecember.

I followed this tutorial: http://www.wormspit.com/stitchmarkers.htm.  It was super easy for a non-beader to pick up.  I'm going to make a zillion of these!  They are so pretty and much better than those boring old plastic rings.  I'm going to make some with lobster claw clasps as well, instead of the toggle clasp rings (which is what I used here).

Here are some more I made using that same tut and lobster claw clasps instead (for stitches, or crochet):

I also found this tut: http://igglepigglecrafts.blogspot.com/2008/10/snag-free-stitch-marker.html
I modified it so a charm is hanging from the end.  These were harder to make (for me, who has very little experience with beading).  I'd probably use tigertail (more flexible, easier to make loops) next time and a crimp bead at the end.

Good luck with the stitch markers and thanks for the nice comments!

I make my own as well, ever since I saw the price of stitch markers on etsy!
